TREE FROG LANDSCAPES

Care of our gardens can ultimately make a difference to Man’s impact on our planet.   We are responsible for sustaining the fantastic biodiversity of our magnificent country and for our life on Earth.  For a sustainable future, we have to take responsibility to START AT HOME & GROW THE CHANGE.

A garden by definition is a planned space, usually outdoors, that we set aside for the display, cultivation, and enjoyment of plants and other aspects of our natural environment.  Have you ever stopped to look at what else lives in your garden?
Tree Frog Landscapes is passionate about the environment and is committed to assisting clients create beautiful gardens which assist with GROWING THE CHANGE.  A garden where they can relax and enjoy, but which also achieves a good ecological balance.   By initially increasing plant diversity and, by practising eco-friendly methods you can attract a wealth of wildlife to your garden.  Your garden can become a sanctuary for a variety of insects, birds and other wildlife.  Your garden can be a HABITAT.

Planting Season

Featured Plant

Psychotria Capensis (Black Birdberry)

This large shrub or small tree has wonderfully glossy, large green foliage.  Its yellow flowers, found in clusters at tips of the stems, appear from early spring through much of early summer.  These are followed by pea sized fleshy berries which are treated as delicacies by all fruit eaters.  The berries initially green, turn yellow, red and eventually black, and provide food for much of winter in a bird garden.  Because it is evergreen and always full of flower and berry colour, Psychotria capensis is an attractive addition to the garden or even a balcony since it is suited to container planting.  In traditional medicine this plant is used in treating stomach complaints. While Psychotria capensis is regularly found in shady spots, it is just as happy in full sun. If planting Psychotria capensis in frost areas, make sure it is in a well protected area.    Psychotria capensis is so easy to grow from seed, the birds do it in my garden all the time.  The trick is to first remove the flesh from around the stone of ripe fruits and sow (preferably) in spring.
